Senior Tax Accountant

$90,000 - $130,000 My client is looking for a
Senior Tax Accountant with a strong background in tax compliance, planning, and advisory services across various industries. The ideal candidate will have expertise in tax preparation for businesses and individuals, experience with sales & use tax, and a deep understanding of state and local tax regulations. This role will also involve overseeing bookkeeping services and providing support in QuickBooks and payroll, ensuring clients receive high-quality service in all financial aspects of their operations.
Key Responsibilities: - Prepare and review complex tax returns for businesses, individuals, and multi-state entities.
- Provide expert advice on state and local tax matters, including sales & use tax, and ensure compliance with regulatory changes.
- Oversee and support payroll processing, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Assist clients with bookkeeping and accounting services, including QuickBooks setup and maintenance.
- Prepare and analyze financial statements for accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
- Lead tax planning and advisory services to help clients optimize their tax positions and minimize liabilities.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of tax laws, accounting standards, and payroll regulations, particularly those affecting small to mid-sized businesses.
- Provide guidance and support to junior staff and act as a mentor in tax and accounting matters.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor to provide tailored financial solutions.
Qualifications: - CPA certification preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in tax preparation, accounting, and payroll services, with a focus on small to mid-sized businesses.
- In-depth knowledge of state and local tax laws, sales & use tax, and payroll compliance.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks and accounting software.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a dynamic work environment.
- Experience with financial statement preparation and general bookkeeping is a plus.
