JOB SUMMARY
The Store Manager’s primary purpose is to coordinate and direct the day-to-day store operations. He or she is responsible for managing the Inside Sales function, ensuring walk-in and call-in customer satisfaction, scheduling and coordinating daily routes, and ensuring that various branch administrative functions are performed.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist walk-in customers and aggressively solicit store sales.
- Assess and respond to walk-in and call-in customer needs.
- Provide customer service that adds value beyond simply selling products, such as technical expertise, prompt response to needs, ease of doing business, etc.
- Resolve customer needs, questions, and problems (i.e., product orders, potential sales, service issues, accounts receivable and credit issues, technical support needs, billing problems, cylinder discrepancies, welder repair needs, etc.)
- Prepare delivery tickets correctly for store sales.
- Prepare sales quotes within branch guidelines.
- Always attempt to maximize gross profit when pricing.
- Prepare and assemble equipment and other products for customers.
- Manage daily store operations
- Manage inside sales personnel relative to daily operations.
- Coordinate welder repair activities for branch.
- Ensure all new employees are properly trained and are properly introduced to their new work area.
- Open and close store daily.
- Receive and distribute call-in orders and phone messages to the appropriate branch personnel.
- Ensure company vehicles are appropriately maintained.
- Manage, schedule, and coordinate daily route operations.
- Ensure that administrative route duties are performed (i.e., driver time sheets, daily pre and post trip vehicle inspections, truck manifests, etc.).
- Ensure that there are substitutes for absent route sales representatives.
- Ensure that route trucks are properly counted in and out.
- Ensure that hard good orders and truck restocking items are pulled and ready for the driver to load each day.
- Place and follow up on gas and hard good orders.
- Place and follow up on emergency orders.
- Receive, verify, label, and distribute inventory received from warehouse.
- Transfer and receive inventory to and from branches.
- Ensure that the daily report is completed (i.e., invoices must be verified, logged, and separated; customer contracts and new account cards must be created; deposit must be prepared; truck manifest and vehicle inspection forms must be filed; etc.).
- Ensure that the mail is retrieved, and the bank deposit is performed daily.
- Ensure that cash drawer/petty cash is balanced daily.
- Ensure that the cylinder inventory is performed and forwarded to the corporate office.
- Ensure that the customer delivery tickets, and invoice files are set-up and maintained.
- Ensure that incoming mail is sorted and distributed.
- Ensure that DOT files and vehicle records are maintained and up to date.
- Ensure that the truck manifests and vehicle inspection files are maintained and purged periodically.
- Ensure that medical files are maintained and updated.
- Ensure that an adequate office supply inventory is maintained.
- Ensure that the forklift is inspected before each use.
- Ensure that all credits, re-bills, and cylinder adjustments to customer accounts are approved by the branch manager and performed by appropriate branch personnel.
- Ensure that the outstanding delivery ticket report is submitted to the corporate office monthly.
- Ensure that outgoing mail is prepared and shipped daily.
- Ensure that rental equipment records are maintained, and rental sales are billed in accordance with policies.
- Ensure that apparatus repair items are recorded, shipped, received, delivered, and billed.
- Ensure that UPS packages are prepared for shipment daily and UPS receipts are submitted to the corporate office weekly.
- Ensure that inside, outside, and route salesmen collect accounts receivable as directed.
- Ensure that the vendor catalogs are updated and maintained.
- Ensure that price books, contract books, and customer lists are always up to date.
- Ensure that fire extinguishers are checked monthly by Arc3 and inspected yearly by an appropriate outside agency.
- Ensure that safety forms, postings, and equipment are maintained.
- Ensure that employee uniforms are counted in and out when exchanged.
- Ensure that the store’s showroom, warehouse, and surrounding grounds are kept clean and neat and properly maintained.
- Ensure that products are displayed in a manner that is appealing to customers and meets their needs.
- Ensure that the restrooms are always clean.
- Attend training as required.
- Present a professional image in appearance.
- Maximize product knowledge and be aware of industry trends.
- Support fellow members of the branch team and perform other related duties as required.
- Coach and mentor branch team employees.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Past jobs interacting with customers is required.
- Four years of experience in the welding/gas industry is preferred.
- Two years of experience in an inside sales role or equivalent preferred.
- Welding/gas background or knowledge is required.
- CDL class B license is preferred. (Not necessary upon hire)
- Strong interpersonal skills are required.
WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Handling of heavy materials (cylinders, boxes, etc.) is required.
- Using office equipment, computers, etc., is required.
- Operating forklift is required.
- Operating 2-ton truck with lift gate occasionally is required.
