Hours: Standard University business hours

8:30am - 5:00pm (academic year)
8:00am - 4:30pm (summer)

Job Description:
The Web Solutions Engineer is a key member of the Digital Development team, combining both development and DevOps assistance to the team. The position will serve as a conduit between the Development and Marketing Technology teams, helping to support Syracuse University's flagship digital development and deployment of web-based applications. The position will create and encourage processes based on industry-backed design principles and provide tools and workflows to support developing to that standard.

Additionally, the position will fulfill DevOps functions, such as managing firewalls to protect data, administering databases, setting up and connecting virtual networks across servers, and cloud hosting. The Web Solutions Engineer will utilize proven technologies and methodologies to provide flexible environments that improve efficiencies and empower teams to build and deploy with confidence.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain reusable development components and environments with a balance of simplicity and flexibility.
  • Support Cloud Engineer through DevOps responsibilities.
  • Contribute to CI/CD deployment workflows: Setup tests, configure server environments, refine workflows for working with multiple developers with varying degrees of access.
  • Integrate processes with SAAS and Open Source technologies.
  • Automate tasks to increase development team efficiency.
