Department Details**
Join a growing team in pediatric hematology and oncology. This position is 745-5 Monday through Friday, with a rotating day off each week. This nurse will be a float position, working with all of our providers. This position requires excellent communication skills, flexibility, a desire to learn and work as a team member. The best candidates will have pediatric or oncology experience. In this position you will will do telephone triage , manage central lines, provide patient education, and coordinate care for our oncology and hematology patients. There is opportunity for cross training to pediatric infusion clinic allowing you to maintain high tech skills. Our team consists of RNs, LPNs, 4 physicians, 2 NPs, child life specialist, behavioral health and a social worker. We'd love to have you join us!
Job Summary
Responsible for the coordination of care, patient assessment, patient education, triage, and various other interventions. Requires excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize/triage the needs of the patients and the practice. Occasionally works in emergent patient care situations requiring critical thinking and prompt assessment skills. Will perform age related patient assessment and intervention as well as scheduling tests and interventions per provider order. Responsible for utilizing the professional nursing process to provide individualized nursing care to patients across age continuum in an ambulatory setting. Cares for patients in all phases of specific states including assessment, disease maintenance, treatment, and follow-up as patients move in both inpatient and outpatient setting. Must have working knowledge of electronic medical records. May work with or participate with or without provider in hospital and on hospital patients and take call with the provider, as needed. Provides a quality of service that customers describe as excellent. Must be skilled in assessment and triage of patients with various conditions and devices both in person and in using the appropriate mode of electronic communication. Collaborates with providers and delivers appropriate assistance during surgical and non-surgical procedures.
Qualifications
Graduate from an accredited nursing program required, including, but not limited to, American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), and National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA). Bachelor’s Degree in nursing preferred.
Currently holds an unencumbered RN license with the State Board of Nursing where the practice of nursing is occurring and/or possess multistate licensure if in a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state. Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific licensure, competencies and certifications.
