Job Description: House Manager

Position Summary:

We are seeking a proactive, organized, and trustworthy House Manager to oversee the daily operations and upkeep of a private family household in Chicago. The ideal candidate will take pride in maintaining a well-run home, providing support for day-to-day tasks, and ensuring the family’s needs are met with the highest level of care. This role includes managing household tasks, preparing occasional meals, running errands, and assisting with pet care and plant maintenance.

Responsibilities:

Household Management:

• Oversee the cleanliness, organization, and maintenance of the home.

• Coordinate with and supervise housekeepers, landscapers, and other service providers.

• Handle scheduling of routine maintenance, repairs, and appointments for household needs.

• Ensure household supplies are well-stocked (groceries, cleaning products, etc.).

• Maintain an inventory of household items and proactively replace or repair as needed.

Cooking:

• Prepare simple, nutritious meals for the family as required.

• Plan weekly menus in collaboration with the family to accommodate dietary preferences.

• Assist with meal prep for special occasions or gatherings.

Errands:

• Grocery shopping, dry cleaning pick-up/drop-off, and managing other errands and administrative tasks for the household.

• Handle online and in-person shopping needs for household items or personal requests.

Pet and Plant Care:

• Provide daily care, feeding, and occasional exercise for the family dog(s).

• Water and maintain indoor and outdoor plants, ensuring their health and upkeep.

Qualifications:

• Previous experience in household management or a similar role.

• Strong organizational and multitasking skills.

• Ability to cook simple, family-friendly meals.

• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (car provided or reimbursement for mileage).

• Comfortable caring for pets and plants.

• Ability to handle sensitive family matters with discretion and confidentiality.
